Placement Letter (all grades)

Children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2020, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten in Prince William County Public Schools for the 2020-21 school year.

Children who do not meet the age requirement for Kindergarten will not be enrolled in Kindergarten or assessed for placement in Kindergarten in PWCS.
 

As part of the registration process, Kindergartner's will either be added to a new ParentVue account or to an existing ParentVue account.

Once you have completed your online Kindergarten registration, Mrs. Chamberlain will contact you to schedule your in-person document verification. Dates for any in-person registration opportunities, are yet to be determined. Thank you for your flexibility during this time. 

Children who speak or understand a language, other than American English, should participate in an English language evaluation. All evaluations must be scheduled by phone at 571-402-3800. Leave a message with them as dates for evaluations are yet to be determined. Evaluations will be held at the Global Welcome Centers (formerly Central Registration Services) at:

WHEN BRINGING IN DOCUMENTS, DO NOT PRINT ANYTHING BACK TO BACK, PLEASE AND THANK YOU

It is very important to fill out ALL fields, especially immunizations in chronological order.

Kindly bring the following documents with you to registration, after Mrs. Chamberlain has set an appointment with you: 

1. A certified copy of the student’s birth certificate with a raised seal. 

2. Three proofs of residence (one must be a copy of the deed, rental or lease agreement, or a notarized Affidavit of Residency attesting to bona fide residency in Prince William County). Other examples of proofs of residency include utility bills, voter registration, drivers license, etc. 

3. A valid immunization record signed by a healthcare professional and a comprehensive physical exam dated within twelve months of the student’s entry into the public school system (MUST BE DATED AFTER August 27, 2019). You may bring this information to your scheduled document verification appointment. 

PLEASE NOTE: The immunization records must document: 
· four doses of DTP with one dose received after the fourth birthday; 
· four doses of a polio vaccine with one dose received after the fourth birthday; 
· two doses of the measles vaccine (one dose received at 12 months of age or older and the second prior to entering kindergarten and usually given as MMR); 
· one dose of a rubella vaccine received at 12 months of age or older (usually given as MMR); 
· two doses of mumps (one dose received at 12 months of age or older and the second prior to entering kindergarten and usually given as MMR); and 
· three doses of the hepatitis B vaccine (given over a minimum four month spread). 
· All susceptible children (those who have not had chicken pox) born after January 1, 1997 are also required to have one dose of varicella; effective July 1, 2008; 
· 2 doses of varicella vaccine shall be required for students entering Kindergarten; the first dose at age 12 months or older and the second dose can be administered at any time after the minimum interval (12 weeks) between the first dose and second dose.
