Welcome to 3rd Grade in room 106 with Mrs. Buckley. I enjoy working together with families to make 3rd grade a safe, nurturing learning experience. I love to see how each child grows both socially and academically throughout a school year! Let's have a wonderful year!.

Math: We are finishing our Place Value, Addition/Subtraction II, Unit 6, and testing on Monday, March 6th. Our next unit will be Fractions. Please have your child continue using IXL because it is a wonderful resource for practicing multiplication concepts, and reviewing math concepts we have covered this year. Fact Dash is a great way to work on increasing speed, fact fluency, for solving computation facts.
Science: We are working on our Matter Unit. Students will explore the states of matter, changing phases of matter, properties of matter, as well as physical and chemical changes of matter. Our Matter test will be on Thursday, March 9th.
Social Studies: Students did a great job on the Ancient Civilization Unit. We are now beginning our second MakerSpace project on this topic.
Writing: We are currently working on our Expository Writing Unit. Students began by writing a "how to" make their favorite sandwich.
Reading: We are concentrating on drawing conclusions and making inferences. Students know to look for clues in the text as well as use their background knowledge to better understand the text.
Office 365 Directions
We used Office 365 during our Maker Space project to create an advertisement for our simple machines we created.
I have posted a document under the Files and Documents tab on our class webpage that has directions of how your child can log into Office 365. They just use their username and password that they use to get on the computer here at school (with the addition of the @pwcs-edu.org for the email).
If your child can practice getting on their Office 365 account, that would be very helpful as we are going to be doing some projects using PowerPoint which they will access through their Office account.
