Welcome to 3rd Grade and Room 105. We have such an exciting year ahead of us. I'm looking forward to working with all of my wonderful new students and watching them grow and learn.
Office 365 Directions:
I have posted a document under the Files and Documents tab on our class webpage that has directions of how your child can log into Office 365. They just use their username and password that they use to get on the computer here at school (with the addition of the @pwcs-edu.org for the email).
If your child can practice getting on their Office 365 account, that would be very helpful as we are going to be doing some projects using PowerPoint which they will access through their Office account.
Maker Space has been a lot of fun for the class this week. Special thanks to all the volunteers we have had helping us out! :) Much appreciated!
Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm!
Math: We are learning about 2-D geometry and linear measurement both standard and metric. The unit test will be on Thursday, January 19th. Please have your child continue using IXL because it is a wonderful source for practicing multiplication concepts, reviewing geometry, and measurement. Fact Dash is a great way to work on increasing speed, fact fluency, for solving multiplication facts. 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication will be included on the test.
Science: The 3rd grade is currently learning about simple machines. We are going into Maker Space to complete a engineering project based on the book Dogzilla by Dav Pilkey. Students are working with partners to create a dog bone contraption using one or more simple machines.
Social Studies: We are learning about economics. Students will learn about consumers, producers, interdependence, scarcity, opportunity cost, and resources. This unit compliments our Maker Space project! Out test will be on Wednesday, January 18th.
Writing: We are writing informational books that will include non-fiction text features.
Reading: We are concentrating on story elements. We are also learning about synonyms and antonyms.
