All 4th and 5th grade classes will do a pre-test and post-test in the following 4 areas of fitness: Upper body strength and endurance (push ups), abdominal strength and endurance (curl up), flexibility (backsaver test), and aerobic capacity (PACER test). Once the pre-test scores are compiled I will begin to plan my teaching around what areas need the most improvement. Pre-testing will begin shortly after the school year has begun. I plan to be finished with pre-tests by mid October.

This year I will be getting back to basics of jogging. All grade levels will begin to spend a portion of time (appropriate to their age/grade level) in the beginning of class to work on becoming the best jogger they can be. Watch the soccer field as we begin to create a bit of dirt path around the field from all of our jogging. So far this fall I have seen some amazing jogging from my students!
