Welcome parents! My name is Mrs. Jenifer Shockley, and I am excited to be at Mountain View to start the 2019-2020 year.
I have held my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) since October 1999. I attended Radford University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as in Foreign Languages (Spanish). I studied abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica to complete the Foreign Language requirements in the summer of 1997. I had the opportunity to participate in undergraduate clinical practicum while at Radford University to beling learning clinical skills for speech and language. I attended Graduate School at the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, TX and obtained a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences with a specialization in Bilingual and Bicultural Issues in May of 1999. I completed my Clinical Fellowship Year (which is 9 months of supervised work) through Loudoun County Public Schools at Sully Elementary. After 3 three years, I pursued private practice and opened my own practice with a colleague. Other settings I have worked include the Infant and Toddler Connection of VA and Telepractice. I started with PWCS full time in April 2016 and my previous school was Mullen Elementary. Overall, I have been practicing for 20 years.

Please also look on the useful links page and files/documents page for additional resources. PDF documents were uploaded with permission from the creators of the resources. Please do not share these documents as they are for use with only my students. Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, our School Division hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.

Dear students and families,
I hope that you are starting to find some kind of a "new normal" routine as you participate in distance learning at home reviewing concepts and skills. I miss you and hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy.
I will continue to update this webpage including adding links/documents when possible. Some resources I have I am not allowed to post to a public site such as this, however, I am allowed to email them to parents. If you want specific resources to help your child please feel free to reach out to me, and I will gladly search through my resources for things to help. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional.
MY OFFICE HOURS ARE MONDAY AND WEDNESDAYS FROM 11-11:30 AM. You may email during this time, and I will respond back during office hours. You may email outside this time also, and I will do my best to answer your message by the close of business the next day. If you prefer, I am available by phone or a Zoom call during these office hours to answer questions on how you can review previously taught concepts and skills. Please email me for more information. Since emails are sent out Blind Copy Carbon in a large quantity, many families did not receive my original email sent out April 4th, 2020 (I will resend this). So I will send them out by grade level. I will reach out to each student's parents 1-2 times a week with updates and additional resources as requested.
I would love to hear from the kids and will gladly respond to any correspondence. Send any videos, photos, or emails to shockljm@pwcs.edu. If you have celebrated a birthday since we have been home on quarantine, please send me pictures to show me how you celebrated. I have a birthday coming up in May and am thinking about how I should celebrate it virtually. I would like to hear your suggestions. Feel free to also email me with any questions or concerns.
